Winter Hiking
Some people hate winter and cold and ice. Some hate summer and heat and sweating. I love it all. If you live in a climate that has a season you may not like, you have choices: sit around and bellyache or get out and have some fun.
I like to head up the canyons near my home or office as much as I can -- when the avalanche danger is near zero. Here is a photo from today in Rock Canyon, near Provo, Utah. The canyond is about 1.5 miles from my office. Yes, I know I am spoiled by having mountains that close. :) Come on people, get some warm clothes, ice cleats and have some fun! It is stunning this time of year!
...... Okay, never mind. Bogley won't let me upload a photo.

I also love winter hiking. I live near Adams canyon. I love going up there in the winter. It is a completely different canyon than in summer. All of the rocks, trees, shrubs draped in ice and snow - absolute winter wonderland. The cold temps mean i can push it as hard as my lungs, heart, and legs will let me without heat exhaustion. And probably the best part - 1/100th of the traffic. Win-Win-Win.
I learn from the mistakes of people who took my advice.
