Bluejohn Rockslide
Someone sent me a video clip of a rockslide in Main Bluejohn that is now forming a dam and creating a large pond. Anyone else experiance this? Anyone have a clue of when it happened or how deep it tends to be? It appears Main Bluejohn now has a major pool of water to deal with which might remove it from the winter fun-to-do list for many.

Dang. Good to know. That was one of the best winter canyons in the area.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

If that pool freezes hard, I don't see why you couldn't walk over it. Already frozen some in the video.

I wouldn't count on it freezing over completely. The same thermal properties that keep canyons cool in the summer, also insulate them in winter. So yes it could freeze hard enough to walk on particularly where it is exposed to open air, but I would plan on dealing with the water or leaving my rope so I could reverse up canyon.

Thus looks like the slide we saw already Oct 22,2016 or so. We went down Main past the photo op log , past a slide and returned back up Main (truned around before hitting the main/ little west fork jct. It looked like that slide had been there a bit...boot path across it.
