Hammond Canyon access
I am thinking about going down to Hammond Canyon next weekend and was wondering what kind of road conditions I might expect. If it is even open, is a 4x4, subaru or a car needed to get to the little notch?
I will be coming in from Blanding, is one road usually better than another to access the area?
I am afraid that it might be a little early to be going up there, but it looks like a great hike.

It is a great hike, but it would probably be better to wait until things dry out, because of the elevation.
Cedar Mesa is right there and would be drier. I guess you could try to drive to Hammond Canyon and have something in Cedar Mesa as a backup.Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

We were thinking of doing a day hike in Hammond and the two forks of Mule (thanks to the recent trip report). Might substitute Lime or Road if we cannot get into Hammond.
