Esbit stoves (and their fuel) are usually lighter, but you don’t get the fun of emptying the can. :friday:

ive built several of this type stove. they work great. a little slow on the boil is the only thing. just google "pepsi can stove" and you will find detailed instructions.

Interesting. I've never seen that type before; with a wick/primer on the outside.

I've used an alcohol stove for years, and in the right conditions, they work great. I rarely take them at altitude or in snow; but enjoy the lightweight aspects on many backpacking trips. I wonder if this one is more efficient than the one I use. I use the one that many thru hikers also use; much like this one:
