I had decided to take Mount Olympus at 4am new years day in order to watch the first sunrise of the new year from the top. It proved to be a much more difficult and epic journey than I had thought. Apparently I was not only the first up Olympus in 2008, I was also the first to attempt it since the last big snow storm and found myself trudging through 3-5ft of fresh powder for the last half of the trip.
