| With the popularity of GPS units in the backcountry I'm wondering do they have an effect on the output signal of an avalanche beacon? I understand that cell phones can misdirect signals and give false burial locations and I assume that GPS units would do the same, especially if they're transmitting anything out. I don't know a whole lot of GPS, but kind a want one for Christmas for my various outdoor ventures. Doesn't seem that it would be worth having if it kept me or someone I knew from being found you know? |
