I lost my camera on a recent trip and am looking for a new one.
I would like around 5x zoom, and some control of the shutter and ISO. In the ballpark of 7MP and using AA batteries -
Something light, since I will be hiking/backpacking again, and not to expensive so when I lose the new one...
Canon PowerShot A560 Silver 7.1 MP is this a good camera? |

All the name brands have good quality in that field. My wife loves her Olympus (10 x zoom). My SIL loves her Canon (5x zoom). My son loves his Nikon, my BIL loves his Fuji. I liked my old Sony. You see where it's going.
Without knowing where you plan to buy, I've had really good service from Beach Camera. They have nearly everything and good prices. B&H Photo is another place to look for comparison. |

My last one was a Nikon coolpix 4300 and I loved it...
My only gripe is it took a special battery and it was to the point that It wasn't lasting long. |

| Yeah, A560 is a decent camera. I think they can be had for around $150 now too. Pretty cheap, if you ask me. |

The Olympus SP 560 should be out just about now, replacing the SP 550. Always liked the way the P/S Olympus cameras worked and the way the pics came out. They use the AA batteries, nice to have a few of them charged up off the good ole dual purpose car/home Energizer charger.
But, like Stan has mentioned, there are so many out there with good reviews. I would check this site for prices:

| I have a A610, that appears to be a similar camera, I have had it a couple of years and has been a real nice camera. I have not had any problems with it. |

| Yeah, I don't know about the ISO, but the PowerShot is a good little camera. |

Mtn. Man Inkleys has a Nikon L12 on sale for 129. It takes AA batteries and has VR. It is 7.1 MP as well. I think the lens is only 3X though but thought I'd pass that on to you in case you haven't purchased yet.
