Went to Yuba with the wife and kid today and had a hell of a time. Check it out:

Sorry for the link...It just takes a long time to write more than one report.

At least it's got pix.

Got a chance to read it over there, got my interest perked.
How did you get your pictures to show up? Im having a hard time with the 560 pixel restriction pissed:

I would have just copied and pasted mine, but the pictured thing is causing me fits for now.

Yeah, I actually finished my whole report and clicked "submit" to have an big fat error message slap me in the face:

"Photos must be no wider than 560 pixels!"

What a jip! I'd gotten so comfortable with the 800 x 600 that it was pretty much automatic. I ended up having to re-copy all 17 images to the folder I use for editing and resizing them to 560. Then I deleted all the images from photobucket and uploaded the new, improved(?) versions and then went back and pasted the new IMG codes in to my report over the highlighted old ones. It's a damn good thing I'm able to open a few separate windows (sessions) or I would've shot myself.

Posting my report took so long, I was automatically logged out when I tried to post. Once logged in, my whole report was lost but luckily, I clicked the "back" arrow and it showed up again with me logged in.

*Whew*

Talk about a pain. I would think that's my biggest gripe about the new site, but now that I got those kinks worked out, we're golden.

I could always post bigger pics here without a hitch. Hmm. Maybe uutah is more photo friendly than the others.

I think I just continue to post links like I did directly to the photos. Im sure it saves them bandwidth at the same time also, but its one blemish that Im willing to deal with.

Screwed! Crap, that sucks. So the other forum won't even allow a hotlink bigger than that? That's strange, considering the majority of monitors are at 1024 X 768, and 800 pixels is just right.

Otherwise, I hardly ever touch photobucket. I upload all of my photos here WITH the trip report, then you can hotlink them to other forums.

Flickr as well. These sites are nice to store pictures on, but if you're going to write a report anyways, you might as well upload them all in one place. I've worked in a few offices that even block photobucket, because of potential porn.

But either way, thanks for the pics. :cool2:

The 600X800 is to large for that forum. The next size down is 320X280, much to small for my liking.

yeah, it's probably a restriction on width, maybe not on length.

But still, if you use photobucket, it's a guarantee that you're going to have to hotlink a bunch, if not multiple times.

Why not just upload them here while writing your report, and hotlink them to another forum that won't allow uploads? You're only using 2 sites instead of 3. And that's not just to "plug" this forum either, it's just really a lot less work.

So by your posts looks like you can do many at one time. I think one of your post had 20 some pics. Sounds like it just may work for me also :2thumbs:

Actually, I don't remember ever hitting a limit as to how many per post you can attach. I've got some Wind River pics where there are probably 50+ pics on the same post.

It may be all how you resize them though. I use Windows XP PowerToy resizer, piece o' cake. One right click basically, and a whole batch is resized.

Wow. I need to look up that power toy. I resize every image separately and then upload about 20 at a time, if needs be. Then I have to copy the IMG code (hotlink, right?) and paste it into the report where I want it.

Usually, I like to edit all the photos first and then write my report so that I can keep the story going in my head.

With your power toy ( :haha: )...sorry...can you place a photo in solo instead of a batch?

Sounds good, whatever it is. I normally spend over an hour on my reports. My wife hates it. It's a good release for me, though.

Here are some quick instructions.
http://uutah.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1718&highlight=resizer

Here are my steps every time:
Import the pictures to a folder on the Desktop
Touch up with Picasa
Resize
Upload on forum
Hotlink to other related forums if the mood shall strike me

I've just worked at 2 businesses where photobucket was blocked, along with other photo sites.
