All I can say is WOW. Nikon has put together an amazing piece of machinery with this one. That is a freaking camera. Can't wait to see what it can do...

And the D300, which looks pretty sweet in it's own right.

There comes a time when every man must eat his words and I indeed must in this case(if I had only waited 48hrs...). I was going off my gut feeling, while also knowning the speculation that has surrounded the nikon FF buzz for at least a year or two now. With that said and the amount of money invested in DX technology, it seemed that would be Nikons benchmark to build on, while not upsetting the user base that also has alot of money invest in DX techology.

This definately bodes well for me, as I should see the D200 body fall down in the 1000 range, hopefully lower with the D300 out at MSRP 1799. I already have two kit lens, so Ill just have to save up for those sweet Nikkor lens while learning her.

I still am shaking my head at disbelief at those cameras. Nikon has really surprised a ton of people with these specs. This will certainly cause a stir in the market. Comes as good news for the consumers though, as what was yesterdays high end, will be today's middle of the pack, and now possibly within reach. :2thumbs:

Now I'm just crossing my fingers that Canon answers, seeing as I have so much tied up in Canon glass right now.

New lenses, too. Looks like some very cool stuff. FWIW, I am already talking to my bosses about a D300 in the first quarter of next year. It looks like a great camera, and an incredible value, if it delivers as promised.

Lenses and gear announced here...

The cameras had been rumored for a while but you cannot expose rumors to produce images! I was happy to finally see the big glass with VR! In terms of that the DX format is great for wildlife.
