I just got back from a multi-day trip (guided) down Lodore Canyon and now I need to share the river experience with my better half. It seems that Westwater is the obvious choice for a day trip. Is it still "good" in September or would we better of waiting until May or June?

Are you kidding? It's awesome in September, that is why it's practically impossible to get a permit then. Sept/Oct is a great time to go, it's perfect in a day and not hot in the camps

Excellent, now I just hope I can find a couple of openings. By the way your videos are a big reason I want to run that section. Thanks for the info.

Westy is ALWAYS good. I prefer it at high water, but still love the trip at low, that's the beauty of the Colorado, and Westy is a 1-4 day trip, can't beat it.

Actually you can't really do more than 2 days in WW. The permit only allows for an overnighter.
