Hank, these shots are really cool.
I love the spiral jetty shot, so unusual and the storm coming in adds great effect. |

Thank you! I appreciate the compliment on my Spiral Jetty photo. :cool2: I like it, too. It's on my desktop at home. |

i have been looking for the negative of this photo, for some time now, to digitize, but seem to have misplaced it. so for the time being i decided to do a lowquality scan of the grainy photo.
folks along the wasatch front have different views of the wasatch that they have become accustomed to over time. the view of the central wasatch from the north is one of my very favorite. from the city of salt, it is a stunning view, though the twin peaks often gets obscured along the east bench, especially when hiking along the foothills. higher points give better vantage on the twin peaks. one spot i have enjoyed the view countless times is along the ridge of little black mountain, which forms the southern wall of city creek canyon, viewing ridgeline after ridgeline towards the peaks of little cottonwood canyon. it's also very easy to pick out the fun hiking/scrambling route up the north face of olympus
the following photo i took one evening around '92-'93 on a hike with my sister. it was kinda stormy over the mountains and sunny over the great lake of salt. there was even a massive rainbow, extending from the top of the narrow ridge of little black mountain up and over the canyon below, and touching down on another ridge to the south. i have never been so seemingly close to a rainbow before.
central wasatch view
