| Carpey, did you utilize an HDR technique for the Salt Flats image? |

Vigenetting in the sky. Whaddya do?
:ne_nau:
well, here's one thing -
use the "magic wand" tool select the sky.
once done enlarge to 200% to fine tune and make sure the is no bleed or missed spots.
if there is, go into "quick mask" and then choose "eraser" tool to eliminate the mask where it has bled or not selected.
when done exit "quick mask" and choose "eyedropper" tool. take a sample of the sky where it is darkest and most saturated. this will appear as the foreground color in the tool tray.
then select the "gradient" tool. use the "linear gradient" option. position the crosshair at the top of the frame and drag it to a point somewhere below the selected area. this will give a color gradient of the selected color from its maximum tone as selected to white ( or whatever other color is set as the "background color" on the tool tray ). the direction of the line as you drag the gradient tool will determine the direction of the gradient.
at anhy time the selected area can be "deselected" by choosing the "magic wand" tool and clickingw/in the selected area, or by going to "select", then "deselect" in the tool bar up top. |

No sir. Pretty much straight out of the camera. It is two images stitched together to make increase FOV, same exposure on both though. |

I'm surprised I haven't posted this one already. It was taken in spring of 2006.
I should probably go back and crop it more like a panorama to get rid of the parking lot at the bottom and the wispy clouds at the top. |

Here is an interesting shot... has had lots of photoshop work to make it viewable... The original was terrible. (one of the first shots I took with my SLR) It shows the fall colors give way to the snow at Snowbasin, with a nice mist/fog rolling in. Let me know what you think.

It sure doesn't look terrible now. I love this shot. It's beautiful!
I'd like to be there right now!
I also love CarpeyBiggs salt flats - that is an amazing shot! Reminds me of the salt flats in Death Valley.
And CNP's reflection of the mountains is pretty dang cool too! And Scott's misty "peaceful for someone" morning ~ that is very serene looking! Geez...these photos are all super! The darkroom is hands down, my favorite forum ~ I love to browse here and imagine I'm actually "there" instead of here!!!!
Thanx for posting all these wonderful pictures!

Very nice indeed.
IMHO when it comes to having to photoshop a photo you must know the limitations of your camera and what you will have to correct BEFORE you take the picture. We all dont have the luxury of the finest equipment or the time and funds to lay in wait for hours for the perfect shot to come to us. I know for myself everyday life and other obligations superseed my picture taking time.
So with all that said, once again job well done. The deep tonal colors of the clouds conveys the feeling of anger contrasted with the untouched vibrant serne fall colors below
The only constructive criticism I might give is to crop out the fence and tree in the bottom left.
On second look the fence would work with out the tree.... |

| Here's a shot of the Spiral Jetty (Rosel Point) I took back in February, 2006 - just as a winter storm was approaching. We got slammed by it on our way back to the Golden Spike Monument. |
