Capital Reef! I have only been once, but it's definitely on my return list. Here are a couple...

P. S. We are heading to Utah, first this month with my wife, son and Chihuahuas, then next month with a buddy of mine for some hiking in the Swell.

Somebody should plant a camcorder and tripod right there, and film the next 10 years, watch for the fall.

Kev, that is suh-weet. Did you end up finding some people to hook up with for your trip? Wish I was down there myself right now...

Thanks! Yup - it was all good. Quite a few met up at the campsite. Malia and friends took me into some cool spots, good for newbies like me: West Leprechaun, West Blarney, and Hog 1, plus Cassidy in Capitol Reef, too. Then off to the Escalante area, where I, at least, managed to avoid needing rescue.

Only downside to the trip so far is that I left my camera and all its accoutrements on the plane on the way down, and ended up buying the very cheapest thing that Walmart had out of desperation. $85 piece of crap, but it's taken over a thousand photos in the last 8 days, and a couple of them have turned out OK so far...
