My new purchase @ 3 g's. I stewed and stewed over a bike that would suit my purpose for on/offroad riding. Granted, I wouldn't take this bike on the emigrant trail, but for getting up in the hills to fish and cruising around the state, I think it would work. Especially if I get a higher aftermarket windscreen. Anybody care to comment on the KLR? If you were to get a dual-sport bike, what would it be considering 50% pavement, and 50% dirt?

That looks like a nice rig. For 50-50 riding a lot of guys like the KLR. I am not much of a 50-50 guy. So I have a KTM 620 RXC for 80-20 dirt and a BMW R1150GS for 80-20 road. Thats a perfect bike to take up the pavement and road base to a good fishing hole. :2thumbs:

Will do. . .double moo is one of the main organizers. We do need to get out for a dirt ride. Perhaps the Pony Express out to Wendover on a Friday. Stay the night in NV and hit a buffet. Then in the morning go north around the GSL and out at Corrine, then pavement home? :ne_nau:

Are you thinking a Friday - Saturday run?

I'll be in Phoenix on the 9-10th, not sure if I could leave again on friday. Does the 18th-19th work if the 11th does not? Is the old man in?

Are you thinking the KTMor the BMW? Dirt bikes would be more fun... though the GSs would definitely handle it, (took my GS last time). The road sections would definitely be better on the GSs.

Call me!

Dang, 3 grand?!? Not bad at all for an '06. You got quite a deal on that one. I've really been eyeing one of those and for that much I'd have jumped all over it myself. I've heard many good things about the KLR. I'm with you, if I could have 2 bikes I would, but the KLR is a pretty good medium. Did it come with the boxes or was that an addon you did?

There is an '05 KLR listed today on KSL classifieds for $2900. Ad says it only has 590 miles. You may want to hurry as that is quite a deal!!

Cancel that..... just looked again and noticed it is a 250 KLR. Guess it was too good to be true!

For 3 g's, looks awesome. Can I ask how the bike handles on dirt? I've barely ever even ridden a motorcycle, but have been thinking a dually would be great to get to hiking/mtb trailheads.

I signed up for a MSF rider course in May. Now just need to find a decent bike and convince the wifey.

I bought the bike from a dealer repo auction in San Diego. My bro is a dealer. That is how I got it so cheap. Came with the aluminum boxes. If any of you guys are looking to get ANY kind of bike (street or dirt; fourwheelers ect) for barely over wholesale PM me. We are going down this weekend to the auction again. I can even link you to the site so you can see what is running through this month.
