One of the guys I ride with uses a 400EX and it does great in the sand. If your not stuck on the 4-cycle get a Banshee they do awsome in the sand.

My used 400ex does awesome in the sand with my nephew driving it up sand mountain at Little Sahara whenever I'll take him.
Saw some Banshees during Easter and they were doing okay but gawd they are noisy and obnoxious around camp. |

I love the sound of a piped 2-stroke it's not noisy or obnoxious. It is the rider of them that make them that. :2thumbs:

I am a big fan of piped two strokes myself but I'm not a big fan of maintaining them. That's why I'm looking for a 4 stroke, but I've ridden 400ex's before and I think I want just a little more power and may possibly end up racing the darn thing so I think 450R or yfz450 would be the best all around choice.

I beleive you can buy it at the Ogden Airport or if I remeber right one of the drivers where I work once filled up with race fuel at the Kellerstrass at 1500 w 2550 s in Ogden, but that has been several years. If I remember I will check tomorrow since I drive by it everyday on my way to and from work.
