For certain items it may be more expensive, but all in all, I think that Target is the one of the few department stores that can go head to head with a Wal-Mart. Kmart has pretty much gone down the crapper.

I did my wife's friends taxes for her this last year. She works at WM and is making a pretty good living being young, single, and uneducated. Maybe it has something to do with the store or manager, but she claims they treat her really well. I've seen some of the "documentaries" out there as well and you really have to watch them with a grain of salt. They claim they are trying to portray both sides, but it's all bs. The film makers/reporters all have an agenda.
Sombeech, I think your hitting it right on the head. Everybody puts down WM but I never hear specifics. I guarantee WM's practices aren't any different than any other companies. The guy on top is always the target to either be like, or to bring down. Sounds kinda like America compared to the rest of the world.

One thing to throw out though... there are several reports that China is building up its military. If this is the case, all of us who are buying products from China is helping to pay for it.

It seems like the two big boys are Wal-Mart and Target. Although, when some people say they shop at Target, they sometimes include the phrase "I hate Wal-Mart". It's like they're shopping at the competition just because they hate Wal-Mart.

I know this isn't the only reason though, not to give any Target shoppers a hard time.

Target has good stuff, don't get me wrong, but I'm always satisfied when I go into WM. I love the prices. I'll go in there for anything. For hell's sake, they've even got the lowest beef jerky prices! I'm in and out of there in 5 minutes with the self check out machines.

When I go into WM, and see all of the incredibly low prices, I think to myself, "this is exactly why I come here."

And it's stuff like Wrigley's gum, too. EVERYBODY sells it. So it's not that WM is searching out special companies that can sell cheaper.

I actually own a Next bike. It literally does way 50 lbs. But I only paid $50 for it. It was on sale, $0.99 / lb. I bought it in the produce section :). I knew exactly what I was getting when I bought it. I didn't plan to go trail riding. I planned to pull my two kids in their bike trailer. I still use it to do that because I don't really want to use my nice bike (a Mongoose... kidding :)) to pull them around. Yeah, they have cheap stuff, but you pay for what you get. Some things are so cheap I think of them as being disposable. $1 for flip-flop sandles (John Kerry style). They also have most of the same products that Target has, but at a cheaper price.
Sombeech, I'm with you. The main reason I shop at WM is any thing I need they have it, and I can guarantee it's the same price or cheaper than anywhere else. One stop. They always seem to know what I need, no matter how obscure they still seem to have it. The wife shops both Target and WM, but I never seem to find quite everything at Target.

I know, man. I'm always walking away from Target thinking "OK, I've still got to find this thing". Then I head to Wal-Mart!

I end up kicking myself, because the things that I did find at Target, are now cheaper at Wal-Mart. pissed: Money down the drain.[/quote]

Ok I have got a Walmart story from this weekend to throw in the mix. I was heading for the freeway on Friday afternoon. My son fell asleep followed by my wife. So I was faced with complete silence for 2.5 hours. I decided to pull into Walmart to get a new CD and a cheap CD player. I picked up one of the $10 dollar specials. Then over to get a CD. I had been thinking about getting the Velvet Revolver CD but hadn't yet. So I thought I would give it a shot.

So I get on the road, headed towards Evanston. You know I thought the CD player would be disposable and I could use it for this trip. It ended up sounding like complete crap. I thought a CD player is a CD player, after all they have been around forever. Right? Wrong!!! Then I didn't notice a small label on the CD that said "edited version" SCREWED!!!! I hate crap that is edited!!! Damn it!!! :eatme:

So I went straight to Walmart in Evanston to exchange both. I got a Sony CD player that sounded much better and had AM/FM, bass boost, etc. However they don't sell the unedited version of this CD at Walmart! They would have let me do an exchange if they would have had it. But they don't sell it! Bastards!!! So now I am stuck with it because it was opened. :wallbash: BTW.....I would give this CD a 6. I think they should sell both versions or neither one at all.

So it was an editted version of the CD? Is it super vulgar or something?

And even Evanston, city of booze, porn and fireworks, you still can't get an uneditted CD from Wal-Mart?

Yeah, ya gots to watch out for those "edited versions," they do suck. Some stores are now carrying CD's with encypted software so that you cannot rip/copy them to use on your MP3. Well, I guess you can, but you have to register it, sign your name in blood, and swear on your grandmother's grave that you will not copy it and give it to your friends. I've heard that Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart and some others are pulling Grand Theft Auto as well as some others due to nudity and graphic content. No worries to me, 'cuz I don't have any gaming systems.

Certain department stores have been selling edited CD's for more than 10 years. They just edit out the swearing.

Yeah it is just a little swearing. There is not a good way to edit the original and it ends up sounding like crap in places. I say freedom of speech and the choice to choose that should be allowed at Wally World. I have heard of Cd's getting banned by Walmart. I guess I never thought to look on this CD. Sucks!!! :frustrated: I guess it is not the place to get a CD. The selection sucks anyway............ :bore:

Yeah I bought 50 cent a while back from Walmart and I think there was a total of 10 words per song that you could hear because there was so much editing. I guess that is what I get for buying 50cent!!!
