It depends I think. Most of the photos looks the same, but from what I saw on terraserver, you can't zoom in as far close as google earth; however, many times zooming in more will only cause it to blur/distort. I think that both of them do better around large cities, and not as well around some rural areas. Just depends on the photos that they got. Google earth is cool because you can look at any place on the earth, not just the US. |

Just got it.
Very impressive! I'm going to make a little list of my favorite spots.
This can be a great guide for trail reports! I'll find out how to save the images, and post them along with each trip report. |

Holy crap this thing rocks. :rockit:
The more I play around with it, I see that it SMOKES terraserver.
Play with the tilt feature. It will turn it into a 3D model.
Look at Moab, UT.
It places you near Lion's back, and just play around with it.

| That thing is awesome. Scary, but awesome. I'm just amazed that I can follow roads all the way from my house to say, NYC. The crazy thing is that this is a child's toy compared to the technology the government has their hands on. |

Thanks...I like zoom out, then take earth with my mouse pointer, click and drag it around to another country then start zooming in. I was trying to see if I could see the Mcmurdo station in Anartica, but no luck yet. |

Did you see slickrock trail yet? I'm sure you did if you saw Lion's back. Amazing how well you can see the back tire marks. |

I just found it! Cool! I am going to install it on one of my video editing computers here. This card is built in the motherboard. Crap! |

| I found Amassa Back on there too, but it is a lot harder to find. It's addicting once you start finding stuff you know, places you have been, or want to go! |

| I think Google Earth is pretty sweet as well. Another tool along the same lines (though not as cool) that you can use is USA Photo Maps http://jdmcox.com/ It's kind of along the lines of terra server, but all the images are downloaded to your hard drive & stored there so you don't have to download them again, & you get a much greater viewing area than terra server. If you're around a city you can get the higher resolution urban photos, and you can switch to topo downloads as well. It will also interface with your GPS & let you download and overlay tracks so you can do maps of trails over the photos without the cost of the other versions of google earth. Just thought I'd throw that out there as well. |
