4.83?? Do you mean 4.88's :ne_nau:

Sorry, 4.88

My point is, I went with 4.10s on my XJ and it was not enough. Should have gone bigger. I have also herd to not bother changing gears if you are running the Dana 35 in the rear. Upgrade the diffs before you change the gears. The chrysler 8.25 is a pretty good diff and it came stock on later model XJs. I also understand that if you look hard you can find Dana 44s which will fit the XJ.

How about a pic showing the lift and custom rock sliders. I would love to see it. By the way I have a 90XJ and 83 CJ5.

Not the best pic but here is what I have.

Just find a Grand Waggy, rip the 44's out from under that add some brackets and you're all done :2thumbs: Outside the Rubi's, there were some TJ's that came with the rear 44 as well as the XJ. Convert the rear to coils and wow, what a difference :2thumbs:

Slight hi-jack...

JP, how are the Krawlers in snow? Mud? I know they're awesome on rocks!

Reason I ask... I figure that by the time I'm ready to get my Jeep on 35's next year, that BFG will probably have their new MT's out, which from the pics I've seen are going to have a tread pattern that looks a lot like the Krawlers.

So, how are they in the snotty stuff?

The standard blue labels are a pretty decent tire. The lug pattern allows them to clear mud and snow without too much effort. It's a great trail tire and they do well on the rocky stuff. The tire that I think out performs them are the IROK's, but they're not offered in a 35". If you plan on wallowing in mud more than anything else, they do make tires specifically for that crap :haha: But I feel the Krawler is one of the best all around tire out there.

What else are you doing to that Rubi when you put the new bigger sneakers on :lol8: Upgrading axle shafts? Steering? 4.88 Ring and Pinion?

Cool! I actually hate mud. Try and stay out of it as much as I can. Just had TOO much experience with digging and winching and using the Hi Lift and walking (LOTS of walking), all because of mud. Did I mention that I hate mud? But... MUD HAPPENS.... Whether I like it or not :haha: .

Good to hear that the Krawler tread works good all around!

I'm scheming a way to get 35's under my Jeep and still fit through my garage door. My stock fenders might have to go, but I think I'm going to do it  .

Try the flat fender idea up front :2thumbs:

Poison Spyder makes some nice body parts

They make some quarter protection that you can design on how and where to cut it to fit yours. Then you use that as a template and cut your quarters to match and bolt the puppies on :2thumbs:

Ok - here they are. Fourtycal and I had our hands full on this one. The project is always more involved than it starts out being. I have a few things to tie up like transfer case spacers and dust boots...cant believe they didnt send dustboots! I'm also going to put add a leafs on the back to pick it up another inch and stiffen it up a little since we had to remove the rear stabilizer rod. Tomorrow Im getting it an alignment and finishing up the project for now.

Yes, I know, No pics of the rear end job...we were out of the picture taking mood the closer it got to midnight....we finished after midnight...and I got pics backwards so shoot me :lol8:
...it drives well, and looks good. I'll raise the backend another inch and be done with the lift. Now I need to put a locker on the rear!

That just doesn't sound right :eek2:

Anyway, if every bolt wasn't rusty it would have been an easy 3-4 hour job. Since we had to torch some, hammer some and break some off, it took close to 5 hours plus a long trip to a couple of auto parts (Napa warehouse 900W. and 13thS. was a lifesaver).
I think it turned out great. :cool2:
