Next week, I am thinking of doing a one way hike down the North Fork Robbers Roost and out the White Roost stock trail (three days including exploring).

Anyway, I’m going to take two kids (plus five of adults) and an overnight pack. I did the fork a few years ago, but didn’t take any kids or a full sized backpack, so I had a few questions.

I would be coming in not through the entire canyon, but via the “shortcut route” and thus with only the one drop. I am familiar with the route. Anyway we did this pre-Kelsey and my map notes do not fit his description in the book. My map notes say the drop is 20 feet. Kelsey says 11 meters/36 feet. Anyone know the correct measurement?

Also, in that little slot above the drop, does anyone have a recent memory if it would be problematic with a backpack?

The only slot in the Robbers Roost complex I’ve actually taken a pack down is South Fork.

Also, anyone know how the roads are to the head of the North Fork and the White Roost Stock Trail? I assume things are back to normal after last years floods? Thanks for any help. Would be appreciated.

I am heading down to the same general area next week. I would also like to know the road conditions down there. I would like to be able to take the 2wd car if possible to save on gas. Anyone have any info?

I don't know on this but why not just prepare for the larger of the two? Unless you are really concerned about the weight. Or are you planning on doing a human rope-human totem pole descent. Sounds exciting!

We'll have plenty of rope, but I was just hoping to get the other figure for the other parent coming because they were curious. :2thumbs:
