Is going to Yellowstone in mid March feasable for a spring break trip? If not where are some good places to go avoiding the large spring break groups?

Hit the Grand Canyon, or Canyonlands. Yellowstone won't melt out for a while. The GC has great weather in March.

Yellowstone in March is the same weather-wise as Park City in January.

Sure, very feasable. Provided of course that you like winter and cold weather and have the proper equipment.
A quick peek at the weathere charts reveals the folowing for Yellowstone Lake in March:
Average snow depth is 41 inches.
Average high temperature in March is 34.6 degrees.
Average low temperature in March is 3.6 degrees.
Record high temperature in March is 61 degrees.
Record low temperature in March is -42 degrees.
In an average March, the temperature will drop to -23 on at least one day. |

I think that all Whidbey Island has going for it is boating, decent diving, and i think there is a dog park in town. But around here we could fill pages with great hikes. I guess it depends on what kind of hiking your looking for. :ne_nau:

There isn't much on Whidbey Island, but we are going go camp at Olympic National Park, see what hikes we can do, hit some hot springs, and hike to the western most point in the continential United States. Then spend a day or two in Seattle, and take a few days coming home stopping where we please. Should be a great trip, I'll post pictures when I get back.
