You need to wait until after spring run-off for the most user friendly visit. Probably mid-summer into fall would be best.

It's over in the Cedar City area, outside of Zion. You drive right up to the slot canyon. The ladder is gone now though... unless someone fixed it.

The spring run-off usually removes all ladders, which are replaced during the summer by various new ladders.
The ladders tend to get better as the summer wears on....
