| Has anyone done this? I'm thinking of parking at the bottom where they close the gate and snowshoeing up to the Left Fork trailhead. From there I'll follow the connector trail to the West Rim. I plan on doing an overnighter with the camp being in Potato or at the West Rim Spring. I'm curious as to how much snow i can expect and low it will go (will there be snow in Potato). I've snowmobiled up around Lava Point before and there was a ton of snow. Any suggestions or info would be appreciated. |

| I guess nobodys done this before. I talked to the ranger and she said i could expect upwards of three feet from Lava point to Potato Hollow. After that she said the snow would thin out. I plan on hikinh from the gate to Wildcat trailhead, then hiking to the junction with the West Rim trail then down. Maybe do it as an overnighter. We're thinking mid-january and you're welcome to join us. |
