| My favorite cache was actually the one that started it all on the Gold Bar Rim trail in Moab. I have done over 350 since then :2thumbs: |

My favorite was Adventure Cache #2, in 2001. It was my first geocache.

If they had more challenges like this, I'd probably still be more active in geocaching. |

I've not yet gotten into geocaching, but found one before I even knew what they were. It was at Tusher Tunnel near Lunar Canyon and Hidden Canyon north of Moab. I was with friends and we took things and left things. We were overwhelmed with glee to find such a thing. Oh, and we put it back exactly where we found it...
Was that OK...?
Is there a good place to start as far as getting information on how the "game" is played? |

Rev- I'm sorry I missed your question. You posted it while I was out of town for the holidays and I just never noticed.
The main site for geocaching is: http://www.Geocaching.com
But the local geocaching site for Utahans is: http://www.utahgeocachers.com/forum/
I don't know if you have a gps yet, but if you don't I recommend you talk to me or Redman for GPS information.
I hope that is helpful and let me know if you have any other questions.
(P.S. It is greatly appreciated that you put it back just as you found it) |

OK, but when you find one, is it cool to exchange items or add stuff? It's my assumption there are different themes. |

Yeah, almost always. Every once and a while there will be a very specific themed cache but even then it is generally alright. The main thing is to try and trade for equal value. A lot of times when I go caching I leave something and don't take anything, or I don't even sign the log and I don't take or leave anything. It is just fun to find it a lot of times.
The only thing you should not trade is the travel bugs. TBs (travel bugs) have specific purposes and the owners really only want people who geocache frequently to take them, so the TBs don't just sit on a shelf for a year.
TBs can be anything but they will have a small tag attached. Here is a picture of a R2D2 TB. (The attachment to R2 is how you can identify an item as a TB)
TBs can be a lot of fun when you get in to caching. People really get in to them. If you notice in this picture, my wife and I are holding 2 tbs. Their purpose was to compete for more pictures, but the TBs goal can be anything. I have a different TB that is a little space shuttle and it's purpose is to follow the original space shuttle course.
Just so you know, you really are just as entitled as anyone to take a TB the main thing is just try and relocate it as soon as possible. I have one that has not moved in nearly a year, and it is kind of a bummer.
Let me know if you have any other questions. |

| Now I want to do Fat Man's Misery just to see if I can fit. I would shatter the record if I made it. |

I am hoping that they do the event at Goblin Valley again. If not, I still plan on going and taking my 7 year old with and exploring the valley, doing LWH canyon and Fat mans. If you would like, I could let you know when I am going. |

does it have to be a favorite geocache or do caching games count?
Two favorite games:
http://www.vigps.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=769&start=20 (I am "The US-Operative" during that game)
and http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=23d27d1c-b977-4344-b493-15c1b01712f2 was also a ton of fun.
My two favorite puzzles:
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=b9591b84-35b9-436f-8395-86efdb4a3121
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=90f94c90-1ed2-449c-8beb-a0623b33abaa Its a shame not more peopel do this one.
My favorite Traditional cache:

That one is for sure up there on my list, my brother welded some climbing shoes and we had ropes and all kinds of stuff, it was awesome. |
