This for all you gun savy techs out there: I am looking at getting a 22-250, but I quickly found out that that is simply a measure of the caliber and not a model. So the question is, what kind of gun brand carries a 22-250 caliber and exactly what is meant by 22-250? Is that ammo interchangeable with others?

| The 22-250 caliber is best used for varmint hunting. It has a very flat trajectory and bullet energy for killing coyotes. This caliber is on the light side for larger game. Your better gun brands for the money are going to be Remington model 700 series, Ruger, and Savage. I personally prefer the more common .223 caliber, as there is no recoil, the shells are in expensive and readily available, and I can shoot it without earplugs. |

Most major rifle manufactures have models chambered for 22-250. I have a heavy barrel Weatherby and a lightweight ruger in that caliber. The ammo should work in any rifle marked 22-250.
The bullet is 22 caliber just like the 223 but the casing holds more powder giving it higher velocity. With a hot load behind a 50 grain bullet you can get 4000+ feet per second (i find more accuracy at around 3800fps)
This is a great caliber for long range shots on small game or just precision shooting at paper.
