My parents and some of their friends went four wheeling down in the panguitch area. I saw these pics on their computer, and "ripped" them to a CD, because I knew they would never learn about web forums.

So, all I know, is this is a ride that takes about 4 days. They've done the Piute trail a couple of times, but apparently this one was different.

I'm just going to post a bunch of pics, 'cause they look like it was a lot of fun. As for questions about specifics, I might need some of you four wheeling veterans out there to help me out with the answers.
:ne_nau:

You may have even been here before.

Thanks.

I believe these first pics are near Bryce Canyon, but still a little ways off.

The first pics are in a place called Red Canyon, on Highway 12 a couple miles before Bryce. I saw Cascade Springs and Strawberry Point, both along the Virgin Rim Bike Trail. They were not on the trail its self as it is closed to ATV's (Thank God). The trail stays on the rim but at points it will intersect jeep roads and ATV trails and the two trails will become one for short sections. For all you mountain biking freaks, there are few trails that match the scenery of the Virgin Rim. It is a must do.

My bad, that’s Cascade Falls not Cascade Springs. :wallbash:

Here it is:
http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=37.50194&lon=-112.75639

The Virgin Rim trail passes the trailhead to this cave/waterfall. It is a short 1/2 mile hike to the falls from the trailhead. Also a forest road makes it to the trailhead. This is no doubt the way our ATV friends made it there. Cascade Falls is really cool. It comes from faults in the plateau that collect the groundwater that drains Navajo Lake and flows out at Cascade Falls. Navajo Lake is cool to. It has no surface outlet. It remains fresh by ground water out flow. Geologist have proven that some of the water comes out a springs that flow into the headwaters of the Sevier River that flows to its terminus, Sevier Lake. Wile the water that comes out Cascade Falls makes up the head waters of the North Fork of the Virgin River (Zion Narrows) that makes it all the way to the Pacific Ocean (at least it used to before this century). So one lake drain into two different basins.

I thought the same thing at first. I know that my parents OWN their own helmets, and they may have been packing them.

BUT...

They are actually going pretty slow on these trails. And, to be honest, I wouldn't want to wear a helmet four days in a row. I'd end up chucking that stinky sweaty heavy thing in the bushes on the second day.

The way we ride? Sure, we should wear helmets. But these are "older" folks, and they are really taking it easy. I'm sure their bodies couldn't take much of a rampage after a couple of days, so they'll be just creeping along.

Yeah, that does look pretty cool, huh?

Thanks James for the info! I didn't have the time to get many details from my parents.

Great Photos! That's my neck of the woods!

Cascade Falls is a fun little hike on Cedar Mountain. It also happens to be the head of the Virgin River. I fell one time in the river near where that photo is shot. Those rocks are JAGGED! Hurt like crazy!

Many of the other photos are from Red Canyon and Cedar Mountain.

Red Canyon Info - 4WD and Mountain Bikers paradise! near Bryce Canyon.

No problem.

I'm just going to have a picture of me on it, and that should be enough. They'll say "if this dude's on it, that's all I need to know"
