took a walk up here today. very nice :2thumbs: . silver lake is an apt name. errr... the silver part anyway, its not much of a lake (right now ? or is it always an algae pond ? there were fish jumping. no doubt trying to escape their dingy doom), and it isn't really silver either. its the surrounding cliffs that make the silver part. an easy hike up. then i made my way around the west side and up the benches north-westerly to the ridge dividing this canyon from white pine/red pine. way cool. then back down the east side but missing the upper lake. saw many deer. summer is definitley going going... in the higher country. the wind doesn't whisper thru the flora anymore, it cackles.

Yea it's usually pretty dried up by this time of year. Go in the spring and it's much more of a lake. During runoff there are actually a bunch of really small waterfalls coming into the lake from all over the cliffs that surround it.

Eric.
