Wifey and I went on a little road trip to Aspen for our 1 year anniversary and stopped a couple places new-to-us to ride.
First stop was in Grand Junction, CO to camp and ride. I would highly recommend the Mud Flat Campground in the Colorado National Monument, above Grand Junction. It is a very small, quaint and quiet setting and was only $5. There is also tons of primitive camping just past the campground.
In the morning we hit the Turkey Flats trail, with lots of super skinny singletrack and nice rolling meadows. After that we headed down canyon to the Holy Cross trail which was a full on assault of bike handling skills, slow and technical.
Next day was the Government trail in Snowmass. 2500 ft of ups and 3500 feet of down, and 14 miles of awesome singletrack!
White water kayaking later that day on the Roaring Fork River.
It's nice to have friends that work at a bed-n-breakfast AND as a river guide! :five:
Then on the last day we hit Troy Built and Mack Ridge trails in Fruita. An awesome end to a great vacation :2thumbs: |
