Here's the full story:

Lost Hiker is Found

Lightning traps a hiker up Farmington Canyon. Dwaine Gadd of Kaysville spent the night cold, wet, and lost.
Crews didn't know exactly where to find him, so they searched through four canyons before they spotted Gadd's cell phone through thermal imaging.
Gadd went out for a day hike in Farmington Canyon yesterday, but then thunderstorms rolled in. He took shelter in a ravine. And when the storm passed, Gadd couldn't find the trail.
Luckily, he had his cell phone with him. He called his wife, and she notified authorities.
A helicopter from the Department of Public Safety searched for Gadd, and finally found him at 3:15 this morning when the helicopter's thermal imaging picked up his cell phone.
He was found in good condition. There were concerns over hypothermia, but Gadd did not suffer from that. He was given a blanket and reunited with his wife after the rescue. He was not injured.
Sheriff's deputies say Gadd carried with him some snacks and some water, but was not prepared to spend the night.

Here's my question.....why didn't he just follow the drainage out? Doesn't Farmington Canyon eventually end up in Farmington? :ne_nau:

Exactly. It must not have technically been in Farmington Canyon. There's a well graded dirt road that leads out of there.
