WOW.... while not exactly Utah related I think this is going to be a big blow to the international canyoneering community. This website was a fantastic resource for international canyoneering and it was pretty much powered by Morta.

Most the Utah canyons are referenced on this website.

Here is the web address for anyone interested. Google Language tools will help you translate if needed.

Dear friend,
As you may know, I have decided to stop working for the Caņones y Barrancos website. I am not leaving it due to problems with Sento, not at all. But, after five years working on the website I consider that it doesn't have the quality I would like it to have, and this is because the collaboration of the canyoneering community has been very little. This makes me reconsider working on it.

I am aware that the website has an acceptable level. The thousands of visits (over 1000 of different people from all over the world) that it has are a good proof of it. But I consider that it has many gaps that can only be filled if we all join our efforts.

Sento, the other webmaster, has the idea of continuing with it at least for the moment. He will be updating the website.

I would like to thank you for helping us in our work and I ask you to keep on with your collaboration as you have done until now. I will also like to encourage you to contribute with whatever you consider appropriate and useful so that the website reaches the quality it deserves. I wouldn't like seeing the website disappear. There are a lot of work, dreams, hopes and even succeses in it.

As some of the visitors consider, I maybe give up this project in its best moment but I feel so tired of asking for the contribution of the canyoneering community to make it, if not the best, at least one of the most comprehensive websites in the canyoneering world, despite the ignorance of, mainly foreign, public institutions, associations and authors, who when referring to the website have left us out or has describe it us a mere reference.

All this has caused in me a lack of interest and carelessness to continue investing time and efforts in improving this website. I leave it in my friend Sento's hands who, I am sure, will be able to assume all the workload and will respect the principles that we agreed upon from the beginning: this site will be independent from any organisation, corporation, personal or third person interest, and it will be created by canyoneers for canyoneers.

Best regards and we will keep up in touch anyhow.

Morta

Hopefully they can get things worked out. I've been highly impressed with this site, and referenced it several times in the past.
