We went riding out near Vernon and out west of there and South of the Pony Express. My Dad met a guy that owns a ranch up there. It is called Black Ranch and it is literally in the middle of nowhere. Yet, there are springs in the area......right in the middle of the desert. Thus the name "Green Spot".

His house is in the middle of nowhere and he runs cattle. He has these old water wheel deals that he used to get electricity from and they are kinda cool. Then he has three small lakes with fish. He said to come back and fish anytime. Check out the pics. The place is about 20 miles northwest of the IPP in Delta.

I also got a flat on my front tire. Two bloody holes!!! I had it put back together and it would not inflate after the first patch job. So I had to do it all again and I found a second hole. :frustrated: Fun ride though and interesting area.....

Sounds like a good time, there's nothing quite like private property!

Sorry about the double flat.

Did you say something about fishing private ponds??? Let me check my schedule...

I am drawing a blank here. Could you post some GPS cords in that area? I have explored out the a couple of times and I can’t put my finger on where you were. About 20 miles northwest of the IPP is a place called the Crater Bench. There are some hot springs out there, Baker Hot Springs. It’s and interesting area with lots of small ponds around. Is this near to where you were?

Yeah, could be a little further than 20. About 20 North and 20 West.

Which would mean you were 20 times the square root of 2 miles away!
:haha:

Seriously though looks like you were further north than the Baker Hot Springs. Distances are deceiving because you can see the IPP from so far away. Up close that place is HUGE. I have camped a couple of canyons to the East of Black Ranch, cool area. I have heard that a couple of canyons to the West of where you were there are some nice ghost town ruins and abandon mines in a place called Indian Creek Canyon. There are some springs up there that feed a year round little stream.

Nice TR, thanks for sharing.
