You know the saying about "a blind squirell finds a nut every now and then." Well, I found that nut.
My work is sending me to honolulu. I have about 6 hrs of work there and then the next three days are mine! I have never been to any of the Islands and am looking for info about places to go and see. Mabee a few of the beaten path that not everyone knows about.
The wife is going with me, she loves the beach so I guess we'll be doing that. Maybee I can get a little sex on the beach with my sex on the beach :naughty: Not that I have ever had sex on the beach...the beverage guys, the beverage.
She know the mountains are more my liking so she has looked at Diamond mountain. I guess it's anly a 1-2 miler.
If any of you have some info on some of the more secluded not so touristy sites or things to visit post up.
Alua...lua..... |

Sounds like you will be on Oahu the whole time, right? I went there back in ’99 with my Mom and sister. Both of them are not the ‘outdoor’ types so I can’t tell you about any off the beaten path stuff. We did climb Diamond Head and would highly recommend it. It didn’t seem like a two-miler to me. It was more like the climb to Ensign Peak but twice as long. But the views on top are amazing. Looking back on the ocean and beach is awesome.
But the thing I would most highly recommend is visiting Pearl Harbor. This was the first thing we did on the first day and I was the highlight of the whole trip, and it is free. Even if you don’t know the history all that well, believe me by the time you leave you will. The cool thing was that when I was there the tour guides were actual servicemen who were stationed in Pearl Harbor during the attack. Plus the tour of the museum includes a free boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial, very sobering. The boat is just under the surface and you can look down right on it.
Oh here is some Pearl Harbor trivia: Besides the USS Arizona, what is the name of the only other battleship not raised and rebuilt after the attack on Pearl Harbor?
Hanauma Bay is very cool, but go early because it will fill up and they won’t allow anyone else in. Skip the Polynesian Cultural Center, it’s like traveling 2,000 miles to visit Provo (seriously it is run by the LDS church and all the kids from BYU Hawaii work there). Just hanging out on the beach is pretty awesome.
Bringing the wife is a good idea, Hawaii is defiantly a place for lovers. When I go back I’m only taking the wife and we will hit every nude beach on all the islands. :bootyshake:

One of my buddies who lives out there suggested these for me a while back, I didn't end up going on that trip, but postponed it for later this year:

http://www.htmclub.org is a great resource.
BARNFIELD'S RAGING ISLE SURF & CYCLE 808.637.7700 might have some ideas.
It's too bad you don't have a couple more days to go up to Kauai and do the Kalalau Trail. |

I just got back a month ago with my wife and two boys.

This is accurate and its closed on Tuesdays. Go as early as possible, we went on a thursday at 11 am, I was kicking myself cause I could have spent the entire day there snorkeling, next time I'm spending a full day there.
#2 - I would hit the H3 and drive through to the lee side, find Sunset beach and hang out to watch the surfers, then on the way back to Honolulu hit the Dole Pineapple plant. We didn't hit it but I had friends do it, they were skeptical at first but ended up loving it, what the heck?
#3 - Stay away from Wakiki beach, we had a hotel a block away and we didn't even bother going down, we essentially were out of the hotel by 8 am doing something around the Island. Also, we ate twice in Chinatown's market food court, 5 bucks per plate, totally authentic, highly recommended. If you are close and want a fantastic meal for next to nothing I'd go there every day for lunch if you are in the area.
#4 - Sex on the beach, mmm, my 6 and 3 year old boys seem to be built in birth control when it comes to vacations like that. lil' rascals may be doomed to be my only offspring (it wouldn't kill me). I did just book a 2 bedroom condo in Princeville for the week of September 9th just me and the wife. It'll happen then.... |
