Well here it is February 5th and spring fever in the air. What a beautiful day today! I had planned to go rabbit hunting with the boys in Wendover. The wife talked me into hanging around in the morning and doing some things around the house. Sombeech couldn’t go last minute as well. We decided that we would let the rest of the guys see how it goes down there and then plan another trip on another weekend this month.
Anyhow my Dad and I have been itching for a ride and we decided to head out to 5 Mile Pass in the afternoon. I couldn’t believe how many bikes were on the road and trailers getting towed all the way out there. It was packed! Everyone was chomping at the bit. We probably saw 50 vehicles parked out there. We parked down the road from the main four-wheeler hang out.
As we unloaded my Dad mentioned that he had not started his bike for a while. Sure enough the big beast was a bit ill tempered. My bike started on the first kick and his would not run. So we got out the towrope and I took him down the highway behind my bike. It took a good ¼ mile down the road to get the beast to come alive. It may have had some bad gas sitting in the carb for a while? Anyhow he was off and running after that. It may have been upset that he decided to fill his new 7.5-gallon tank to the brim. This was his first ride with the new camel tank. He wanted to fill it and see how it handled. He said it wasn’t too bad. He bottomed the front end a few times and noticed the weight.
There are trails that go all over these mountain ranges. Our bikes were pretty clean for the pictures, but by the end of the day we managed to find a little mud. It was mainly in the trees and on the north slopes. What a great day for riding and who would of thought that it is the beginning of February. Crazy!
I got a brand new BST 40 carb, throttle, and cables off ebay this week. It came off of an 03 625 SXC when new. It should be here on Monday and I will pull off the Dellorto and upgrade to the BST. I need to get it dialed in by the summer. Enjoy the pictures. What a GREAT day! :wavey: |
