Hi, I am kind of new to backpacking. My dad used to take us as a kid, but I married someone who wasn't too keen on hiking, though we did lots of camping. Now, after a divorce, I am rediscovering the delights of hiking. I did a few hikes last summer 5 to 10 miles on my own and liked it so much I want MORE, more, more! I'd love to do a trip to Southern Utah in April (would have to be the weekends of either the 9th, the 15th, or the 22nd). Any suggestions on finding camping/hiking buddies? Perhaps someone here is headed that way and would be willing to let a greenie tag along?
Also, is there any specific weight training I should do to get ready? :stud: Right now I just do an overall resistance training for different parts of my body in addition to my cardio. All and any suggestions are gratefully accepted! |

Glad to hear that you’re getting back into this stuff. Utah is one of the best places for it. We've got a little of everything here.
If your looking for buddies to go with, just keep yours eyes open for different trip posts here on the site. I like putting up a post a week or two before a trip just to get some advice from all of the gurus here on the area I'm headed to. I don’t think there is a place in the state that somebody here doesn't know about. So watch for those and if your interested in tagging along, your more than welcome to come. Just throw in your hat when you want to come. |

Hey Attic,
Step up lunges are always good for the uphill and downhills. |
