Speaking of music, sombeech, I know you've worked on Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson. Thats what I'm workin on now. Got any pointers?
As far as music goes, anything with a guitar I can get into. I love the guitar. I play mine everyday. I just wish I had more time. |

Man, sorry I never got back to you. I just noticed this. :ne_nau:
With Cliffs of Dover, it's just memorization. You have to play it until you are absolutely sick of it. Just play sections over and over and over again until those who are near you end up hating you.
Start out slow. Way slow. I break it down by patterns, or if you have the music, by page.
You won't want to "fake" anything either, because this is a clean song, and it will show.
At first I tried to use my pick, and then alternate with fingering because it was so fast, but eventually I was able to pick the whole thing.
Good luck. It's a great song. It's one of those status songs, that when you can play it, it raises your status as a guitar player. |

Well Looks like I'm a generation in front of y'all, but I try to keep up on new things coming out too so I don't fall behind on whats good. Also, I'm slowly catching up on old stuff, but still got a lot to listen to and learn to like. I've got a very eclectic taste in music, I like a lot of country, grunge, punk, classical, a little rap. I hate R&B and Pop though. In high school, I loved some more hardcore stuff like Rage, Deftones and Chevelle, but usually I'm a little toned down lately, but still get the kick for hardcore every once in a while. I don't do the butt rock thing, metal, or anything really from the 80s besides The Cure, sorry guys.
Here are my Favorites, categorized.
Grunge/Alt Rock:
Pearl Jam
Alice in Chains
Pumpkins
Radiohead
Punk/Emo/Progressive Rock:
Less Than Jake
Blink
MxPx
Unwritten Law
dashboard Confessional
Jimmy Eat World
AFI
Muse
The Killers
Incubus
Country:
Tim McGraw
Chris Ledoux
Kenny Chesne
Rap:
Jay Z
Nelly
Classic Rock:
CCR
Eagles
Joe Walsh
Other Rock:
Rage Against The Machine
The Cure
Jack Johnson
Classical:
George Gershwin
Aaron Copeland
Rachmaninoff etc. |

Wish I could just upload my latest 'faves' from my iPod playlist...
Like almost everything already mentioned with a few newer ones of note:
Dishwalla
Audioslave
Saliva
Trapt
Our Lady Peace
Fuel
Goldfinger
Sevendust
Alter Bridge
Big Head Todd & The Monsters
And, for some strange reason, I'm really diggin' on The Killers.....
I'm gonna have to pop Erik Johnson back on a playlist.... saw him years (and years) ago - opened up for Steve Miller Band on a tour...
And sorry... Dave Matthews Band just doesn't work for me. |

Much more. As long as it's heavy and filled with guitar solos. |
