Hello everyone
Well with all the snow up north and my legs just a itching for a hike, me and a couple of friends are thinking about trying to hike to signal peak on March 13.
Very Happy I am going to try to get all the county high points this summer and thought this would be a good start. Very Happy
We are thinking of starting out at the Oak Grove Trail head.
I would like to see if anyone else would like to try to tackle Washington’s high point with us.
We are also wondering if anyone has any info on what we should expect to run into on our trip up their. We want to be prepared. |

Hey Shphilby -
I've been up Signal a few times both from Oak Grove and from the town of Pine Valley. Not a bad hike. Steeper from Oak Grove but a good trail - a little rocky but great views on the way up. Looked like the snow was mostly gone but after all the rain today you might run into snow still in March. I can let you know as it gets closer. I look right out at Signal Mountain from my front door.
Welcome to the board!

Sounds like fun. I still need to bag that one. Problem is that I don’t like to hike in the snow all that much. Some friends and I tried to do Signal as an overnight backpack going up the Whipple Trail and down the Browns Point trail. But once the Summit Trail left the South Valley it was completely covered with snow. Being mid June I thought we would miss all of the snow, I was wrong. The Summit Trail was hard enough to find without the snow so we turned back. A couple of weeks later another group of friends went back and completed the route. They said the snow was completely gone. They camped in the Hidden Valley and said it was worth the whole trip.
