| black canyon of the colorado was my first guess. that water is sooo green. a must visit location. all the action is in the 1st mile or 2 of hoover though, then its a long paddle to the take out, i forget the name of the place. awesome trip ! |

| You might also consider doing the tour of Hoover Dam.... way cool. You might call or check on-line for all the info. The tours fill up early and often sell out on busy days. If you could purchase your tickets ahead of time with a garunteed time that would be primo. :thumb: |

| I'll recommend it to the others, but I've actually done this tour twice. Once when I was a kid, and about 8 yrs ago with a group of kids. It's definitely worth doing. |

If you do the dam tour the requirements are probably much different from your visit 8 years ago. After 9-11 the security on the super dams was really tighten up.
When I was a kid the tour of Glen Canyon dam was a self guided tour. You got to walk all over the dam following the painted arrows and reading the signs with no escort. Such access would never be allowed today. |

Just kidding.
I would love to get some canoes and do this also. I've also never done the tour of the dam. We pass it every time we go to Havasu Canyon.
How long does the tour take, so we could fit it into our drive time? |

Last time I took the Hoover Dam tour there were actually two tours. The first took a couple of hours. The second was called the "hard hat tour" and took 1/2 a day. For the average person the standard tour is really cool. If you are a geek about this type stuff, like I am, take the hard hat tour if it's still offered.
After 9-11 ALL tours were shut down for a couple of months. I know the tours were revised some but I don't know the details or what tours are offered now. |
