Whats up everyone, I know we kind of did this in the Canyoneering Section a while ago but I thought it would be cool to get everyone to contribute. I went to the first few days of RAM's freezefest and we were talking about how many days we spent in the outdoors this year. His number was something like 107, I just figured out mine and it looks like it was somewhere between 40 and 50. How many days were you out this year? What were you up to? What are your resolutions for 2006?
What was I up to? (I'm copying this from my response to the canyoneering thread with a couple updates)
Little Wild Horse Canyon for the ump-teenth time/Goblin Valley
An attempt at Mystery and Camelhead arches in the Swell (failed, but we had a good time trying. I have better beta now and want to try again one of these days.)
Little Wild Horse Window
Backpack up the main and north forks of Choprock, we also checked out the Golden Cathedral
Observation Point/Zion waterfall searching in February
Angles Landing/Emerald Pools (also for the ump-teenth time, but the people I was with hadn’t been yet)
I took the three day ACA Canyoneering course.
Full Bryce Canyon amphitheater loop
Technical canyons I went through this year:
Keyhole
Pine Creek
Keyhole (again)
Echo
Englestead
Orderville
Heaps
Imlay
Polygamist Alley (I made up that name since Tom made us promise not to give the real name)
Das Boot/Subway
Full Left Fork (including Das Boot and Subway again)
Kolob
Boss Hog
Boss Hog’s little brother
Monkey Business
The Black Hole
Neon (including upper, upper Neon)
Choprock
Spry
No Kidding
Leprechaun Right Fork
Leprechaun Left Fork
Stair
"Hemlock" (as Tom calls it)
4 days hiking all over Yosemite (man those waterfalls are big)
Snowboarding trip to Lake Tahoe (including stunt jumping into the just above frozen lake in the middle of January and breaking my coccyx in the terrain park).
Night boarding 2-3 times a week during the winter.
Lots of 2-6 mile “after-work-conditioning” hikes to various places in the Wasatch in an attempt to stay in shape between trips, (much nicer than the treadmill).
Add on about 5 skiing days so far this winter.
It was a great year considering I've been working full time and going to school most all of it.
Resolutions:
Pass all my classes.
Spend 50 days outdoors.
Keep on enjoying life to the fullest.
Eric. |

Man, you've been busy!
Me?
Created and witnessed the birth of Mini-Me, part II.
Green River twice fishing below the Gorge.
About a dozen 1/2 day trips to various portions of the Provo and Weber rivers.
Purchased a Mountain bike.
About 3,000 miles of biking, both on and off-road. About 10 commutes to work.
Started work on my basement.
Next year?
I'd like to ride about 2x last years total.
Some backpacking trips.
Hunt for deer, maybe elk. |

I don't have many? :ne_nau: I guess I need to work on the goal thing a bit.
I want to be in better shape before the summer season hits. That means I start on the treadmill on Monday morning. Rather than April or May. Then I would like to have a similar year planning and executing trips.

My 2006 New Years resolutions are, in no particular order.... To put on a couple more pounds, drink more beer, chase more women and exercise less.
Looks like I got a great running start on most of these last night :2thumbs: |
