I'm pretty sure I got all of the beginner and expert ones correct, including the extra credit. I'm not sure about a few of the intermediate ones though. Where do I go for the answers?
I didn't post my answers so that others could participate with no bias.
Maybe I'll PM you my answers... |

I'll post them in a while, but if you choose, you can post them too, or at least a few of them. You have all of them? |

So you not only live in Colorado, but now you're a Coloradoan? :haha: If I lived in Colorado, I would still be a Utahn, methinks.

I'm guessing that you don't want us to post our answers so that the quiz stays interesting for everyone? |

Maybe not. I've lived in Utah 75% of my life, so I'm really still a Utahn. I'm trying to move back as well.

Really. I didn't think they would be very easy. Lets see your answers for the advanced questions. I labeled them advanced, because many, or most Utahns seem to get them wrong quite often.

Go ahead and post if you would like. Other's can fill in the blanks, or I can just post more. |

Here are the answers:
5. Utah’s highest road is in what mountain range?
B. Tushars. See the map link below. There are higher un-used mining tracks in the LaSals and Tushars, but they are not driveable and are not roads any more, and either way, the answer is still the Tushars.
The main road across the mountains between Beaver and Marysvale is over 11,500 feet in the map link below:
http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=12&n=4249589.00009965&e=377926.999998341&datum=nad83
7. How many peaks in Utah are both over 12,000 feet and have 200 feet of prominence (elevation of rise above the connecting saddle)?
The answer is D. 100+
If anyone is interested, I have compiled a list of all the 12,000 foot peaks in Utah with over 200 feet prominence. (I have climbed most of the peaks). The list is in the link below:
http://www.summitpost.org/mountains/trip_report.pl?trip_report_id=1859&mountain_id=3009
Advanced questions:
The reason that the below are advanced is because each answer to the question is often incorrectly stated as a location in Utah. The answer to all the below are all outside Utah. I won't give away the answers on the forum, but you may want to play with them a bit (you could email me if you really want the answers). Also, I actually don't know the answer to #9 (but do the others), since I haven't seen the entire world, but I do know, and have seen slot canyons that are longer than 20 miles, so it's not Buckskin Gulch. I'll leave it to your own imagination.
8. Where is the longest natural span in the world?
9. Where is the world’s longest slot canyon?
10. Which state is mentioned in Mormon scripture as being Zion? |
