I'm taking the family to the Swell on Oct. 16th for a few days. I've only been there once before (same time last year).
I'm taking a 31' RV and three ATV's (15' trailer). Last year, we parked right next to "Fat Man's Misery", just North (?) of Goblin State Park. GPSr coords: N 38° 39.927 W 110° 40.551
I'm looking for a new location that will be decent for parking the RV (level), good access to ATV and hiking trails.
Any recommendations appreciated. |

I think Justensen Flats would be right up your alley. The coordinates are N 38° 50.722' W 110° 53.630'. The camping itself isn't terribly great (right off the interstate), though I've see large RVs parked there so I'm sure you could get your rig in there. I camped there at a nicer spot a couple of years ago, except I was about 3/4 of a mile farther east, but I doubt you could get an RV that far (the road was really rough).
There are some awesome trails around the area: Eagle Canyon, Coal Wash, Devil's Racetrack, Fix-It Pass, etc. You could probably spend a long weekend there and still not see everything there is to see. |

You can probably make it through the crack to the Fat Man's Misery cache. I think I was in the 200 lb. range when I went through there.
If you haven't already done it, you should try the Behind the Reef trail. It was the first ATV ride I'd ever done and still one of my favorites. The start of the trail is at N 38° 37.745' W 110° 45.817. Here's my TR from last year. |

Anybody else going to be at the Swell over this coming weekend? I'll be camped right near Fat Man's Misery off Temple Mtn Road (31' white RV w/4 place ATV trailer).
If you want to link up (beer is on me), then come on over.. |
