You and Richard both got nice pictures. How nice does your lens have to be to get pictures of fireworks like this?

It's not the lens, it's the tripod!

Interesting. I wouldn't have expected that.

What about VR at 2 seconds or so????

Yeah its definately the tripod. I got a good lock on where they were going up(switched over from AF to MF so I wouldnt have to have the lens seek every time) and started to time them and went with an approximate time. This show was pretty lame, just a bunch of noisemakers primarily and very few cloud bursts.

BTW, where are Richard's posted?

While I don't suppose these are quite up to par with the others, we did get to see a couple pretty decent shows. Our biggest problem was the complete and total lack of wind that kept all of the smoke just hovering in the same spot they exploded. I also opted to go with a higher ISO and shorter exposure to avoid streaking. To each his own I guess, eh?

After viewing the 4th photos,
:hail2thechief:
I had a go at it from Liberty park on the 24th.

Thanks for the inspiration. Hopefully, I remember some of the things learned next year, for another try.
