Got these tonight, 4th of July 2008, the ones from Clearfield HS. I didnt even have to leave base and shot these from the hill that over looks Hill Field elementry.

What about VR at 2 seconds or so???? :roll:
Yeah its definately the tripod. I got a good lock on where they were going up(switched over from AF to MF so I wouldnt have to have the lens seek every time) and started to time them and went with an approximate time. This show was pretty lame, just a bunch of noisemakers primarily and very few cloud bursts.

While I don't suppose these are quite up to par with the others, we did get to see a couple pretty decent shows. Our biggest problem was the complete and total lack of wind that kept all of the smoke just hovering in the same spot they exploded. I also opted to go with a higher ISO and shorter exposure to avoid streaking. To each his own I guess, eh?

I had a go at it from Liberty park on the 24th.
