Solstice is just around the corner. This is the view out of my house in Fairbanks at 1:15 a.m. this morning.

| Very nice. I love the dark green against the bright sky. How do you sleep, mask? |

Nice picture Dan! Are you going to be in Fairbanks on Solstice? I always wanted to watch the midnight baseball game and never got to :(. It seems like you are having a great time and I am glad!
BTW- I have something that I want to send you to help you get tips, if you don't have one already. PM me an address to which I can mail stuff to you.
PS. I am not the best at sending things, but I will really try. |

beautiful!
dan, one nice area i really enjoyed was the Pinnell Mountain NR trail. it starts from eagle summit off the steese highway. the sun doesn't set at the high points on the ridge from june 17-june 24 despite being south of the arctic circle and the best part is that it's often breezy making it mosquito free. i spent 3 wonderful nights hiking along it. endless hills in all directions. worth checking out if you have time. |

Great photo, Carpy. I LOVE Alaska, I've had two trips there, it gets in your blood, permeates one's soul and you can never shake it. (speaking personally, anyway) :-) What'cha doin' up there? (off topic, but I'm curious)

Most folks cover their windows with aluminum foil, which is what I did to the motorhome I was travelling in when I was in Fairbanks during in June, 2000. It really makes a difference in being able to sleep. |

And here is one more from the true solstice. Taken outside of Wrangell St. Elias National Park, looking at Mt. Drum. About 1 in the morning.

Hey Tree. Yeah, Alaska is fantastic. I'm up here driving motorcoach tours across the interior, from Fairbanks to Denali National Park, to Wrangell St. Elias National Park, and down to Valdez. How's summer break? |
