| The one song I can associate with drinking is the Animals' We Gotta Get Out Of This Place. Long ago near the end of my tour I was stationed at Lai Khe. On Saturdays if we were lucky, a band from the Philippines would set up in our hq area and play covers inevitably ending their set with that Animals tune. We sang along and drank Carling Black Label. That's all we had. It was stored in conex containers that got awful hot during the day. You could never get those beers cold enough. On the rare occasions when I hear that song, I can taste that beer. It's still brewed in Eden a couple hours west of here, but I haven't drank a can of that brand in nearly 40 years. |
