Climber dies on Mt. Rainier amid June blizzard.
Two others await rescue after they get caught in snowstorm during hike.

that is sad to hear. Dying on a day hike?!?!? don't tell my wife she is already against me getting into mountaineering

Dead Rainer hiker hailed a hero for saving wife and fellow hiker:
SEATTLE -- A hiker who died of exposure on Mount Rainier had lain on the ground so that his wife and friend could lie on top of him in an effort to stay warm, a ranger at the park told KIRO News Radio...

Well written re-count of events. I can't imagine the thoughts that go through ones head at a time like that.

Well written re-count of events. I can't imagine the thoughts that go through ones head at a time like that.

What a crazy long read! I couldn't stop though. Reminds me of Reinhold Messner in Crystal Horizon when he climbed out of a crevass as he soloed Everest with his girlfriend was at base camp. Why let a fall like that ruin my climbing trip? He thought and continued to the top.
Bold and inspiring.
