(for part one see here)

From the guy who brought you such interesting Earth art as ”Glue Pour”

And who could forget ”Partially Buried Woodshed”?

Now here is Robert Smithson’s crowning achievement the ”Spiral Jetty”. Or this is how it will look soon enough.

All joking aside I took a trip to the jetty last Sunday. I am taking a digital photography class and we had a landscape assignment. Even though I am against “earth art”, I do pride myself as someone who has seen a lot of Utah.

Thanks to Shane for his dead on directions found at climb-utah.com.

I found that the near by oil jetty and ruins were more interesting. YMMV

James, I have to agree with ya, not a fan of "Hippy Earth Art". Not a fan of Hippies to begin with, but that's another story :haha:

Those pics are pretty neat. How long ago was that area taken down? Where is it? How long did it produce oil? If it's still seeping from the ground, it still holds that black gold :haha: Judging by the tank being made out of wood, that pretty much, I would think, dates that area. They haven't used wood in quite sometime and here in Connecticut they had to take all the metal underground tanks at gas stations and stuff and replaced. I believe they're of PVC or some other type plastic tanks.

I really like the Spiral Jetty. I stopped by Golden Spike on the way there, and really didn't like the Golden Spike but the Jetty was cool.

(Plus there are like 4 caches really close to it :D)
