...This weekend. Friday couldn't find the camera in the Dooge. Caught some Brookies in the Far Mill River that runs near the house. I have to give it to Loah, I would try my pace close to home and the Far Mill has plenty of trout in it. I love the Smallmouth, but I figured the river is so close and I'm not supposed to be pushing myself, I'll play it safe and fish for trout. Thanks Loah, it worked. I'll get pics of that river hopefully sometime this week.

Saturday, headed up north to my favorite area of the Housatonic with a buddy of mine. Not too bad, but not as good as I thought. It's still early. We caught some Smallies and few Browns. Here's one of the Smallies that wasn't camera shy :haha: And a few sections of the Housatonic.













Then we had a storm come in, my buddy was fishing and I was taking pics. Well, it got bad and he inadvertently left a pole baited and this morning, this little fella was on the line :mrgreen: This is above the "Falls" on the Housatonic.

Wow, that's quite the river. Lots of species there? Looks like it.

Yea, it is quite a river. It empties into Long Island Sound, so we get the brackish water up to the first dam on two rivers. As you head up the Housatonic it has a fork where the Naugatuck flows into it and sea run trout, salmon and striped bass head up both rivers to the first set of dams. Fish ladders have been mentioned, nothing as of yet.

Then from the first dam on the Housy heading north is Lake Shelton, Lake Zoar and then Lake Lillinonah. At this point heading north the Housy turns back into a "real" river. From this point all the way to my buddies place it has just about everything. Pools, runs, rapids... then from the "Falls" north into Massachusetts it's basically flat water to where it begins.

GE based in Massachusetts used this river as it's dumping grounds for years. PCB's decimated this river. Obviously that has since come to an end years ago, but the PCB's lie tucked away at the bottom. They stock the Housy, but catching 6-8lb Browns are not uncommon, but they are the ones that would have the highest PCB levels in their fat. So, most just Catch & Release and there are certain sections of that river that are dedicated to Catch & Release as well as a Fly Fishing section only.

Trout (Rainbow, Brown , Brook, Golden Rainbow), Smallmouth and Largemouth, Catfish, Suckers, Carp, Pike, Pickerel, Perch, Eel, sunfish, bla, bla, bla, all call the Housy home. I'm sure I'm leaving a half a dozen or so species out of that list. It has quite a bit of choice.

Yep, that was a Kittie on the line and it did feel great to hop into the river once again. Heart seems to be OK when walking around in it. :2thumbs:
