| Hiked Maidendryer er.... I mean Maidenwater South fork on Sunday May 4. There was not a drop of water to be found in the whole canyon. Wet suits stayed at the bottom of our packs. We decided to do the 'fun' 75 foot rappel at the head of the canyon rather than the tricky eroded scree covered weakness around to the south. We found a couple of good boulders at the top pour-off to build an anchor with. There is plenty of downclimbing and at least 7 more short rappels in the canyon. The canyon is very nice and deep. It is a physicaly challenging and fun canyon. At the end of the canyon about half way thru the cleverly engineered tunnel under the road one should stay to the left so as not to fall in the 4 foot deep gash on the right side. |

| GREAT pics! They really show the obstacles and challenges in the canyon, but you also mentioned fun. How come no one was smiling? :haha: |

Sweet! I've passed by that rap at the head and wondered if others have just gone ahead and rapped it...now I know. Very cool!
Thanks for the TR! |

| Very Nice. Thanks for the pics, looked like a great day. The south fork of Maidenwater is one of my favorite canyons. (I have never done the canyon without water in it.) Lots of rappels, and down climbing obstacle fun. |
