Very cool video!
Looks like you were kind of taking your time - were you doing, like, touristy/photo things? Just curious, because (for example) you had defrosting in Lake Louise, then again (it appeared) in Jasper. Now if I recall correctly - not at all a sure thing, as I approach my mid-40s - they're only about 3-4 hours apart...
Have fun up there! |

Yeah, definitely drove like a tourist. I hadn't seen a lot of it before, so I just took it easy. Did some hikes in a the parks, lots of photography.
Wildlife - Moose and Bald Eagles, buffalo, red fox, mule deer, bighorn sheep, stone sheep, dall sheep, caribou, elk, wolves, coyote (even one taking down a bison calf), black bear, grizzly bear, etc... It was epic. I'll get pics up soon. Here is one of a coyote killing the bison calf.
And yeah, I definitely stopped at liard. Unbelievable hotsprings. It was awesome. |

Dan-
Joel and I were talking about how awesome this video is and we decided that if it weren't for us (Joel and I) the world would not have this awesome video that you have made, so you have made us feel like we have accomplished something for Alaska even though we both couldn't go this year, so thanks again for doing this.
The video makes me believe you are going to make the most of this summer which makes me feel a lot better about you quiting a good job to take it. I look forward to more of your updates. |

No such thing as a "good" job, right? Just a means to an end... And in this case, a good excuse to see alot of Alaska, and make a few coins. Hopefully, I'll be making the haul from Denali to Valdez, or if I can really do some smoothtalkin', I want to make the Prudhoe Bay haul. It looks phookin' awesome. Did you ever drive anything out of Fairbanks? |

I worked RCT instead of Princess, so we go less places but everyone goes everywhere. An average week for us would be Seward to Anchorage, Anchorage to Talkeetna, Talkeetna to Denali, & Denali to Fairbanks (usually with a hold over day at either Denali or Talkeetna).
I wish I would have made it to Prudhoe during my time in AK, but sadly never did. I spent most of my time in AK in Southeast and just spent the one summer in SouthCentral.
Heads up, you can get comped on lots of excursions (helicopters, riverrafting, etc.) and although you may think you can do it later in the summer this is the least busy the companies will be because the early and late pax are usually the lower income pax (not always but there are lower fares), so try and do all the tours you can right away.
The river rafting tour in Denali is sweet, and there is an awesome flight seeing trip to the Article circle that you need to take at some point in the summer. If you get a chance to hike stampe road trail, you should. That hike is awesome!
I am sure you will figure this out quick, but on of the awesome things about Denali national park is there are no trails. You hop on a park bus and whereever you feel like hiking, you just ask the driver to get off and you go wherever you want. It is more than a national park it is also a habit preservations (which is why you can not bring your own vehicle in), anyway it is awesome!
Here is a thread where I posted some of my Stampede Trail pics:

(I sadly did not reach the Chris McCandless Memorial bus) |
