haven't looked at your links yet, but just wanted to mention one thing to keep in mind. the problem can imagine with using these numbers is determining how to eat the carbohydrates in such a way that your brain will actually get that amount spread out over the entire day in a fashion that uses it effectively. this is one of the benefits of complex carbohydrates that they generally are broken down and converted much more slowly, and tend produce a longer lasting source of glucose without the detrimental spikes. |

Thanks for the fix. You are correct in the above post which ties well into the theme of the original post processed sugar is bad- it is simple carbs that cause you to crash. I am amazed at the number of energy gels that contain simple sugar and are not made with maltodextrin which can give you lasting energy. Or they have both but mixing them is not good either (harder to digest and assimilate).
Avoid sugar it is the devil. I don't care how good those doughnuts look or that Twix bar or that can of soda you will thank yourself if you give it up. |

I have really enjoyed all the information that has been posted. I find that I have been feeling much better without the sugar, but for me no artificial sweeteners seem to be just as important, as well as caffeine.
I have begun tweaking my diet and I agree that it is very hard to think with no carbs! When I know that I'm going to have to think a lot, I have been adding natural complex carbs to my diet and I notice a big change. A spoonful of peanut butter has saved me several times lately. *lol*
The human body is so fascinating! :2thumbs:

It was going really well until yesterday, when I UNKNOWINGLY ate a big fat slice of chocolate truffle. ~~ A friend of mine said that she was gonna make me a yummy sugar free dessert, and brought it over yesterday. I dug into it quite heartily, and called later to thank her. It was then that she said she had made it with sugar, not Splenda like she had originally planned. :frustrated:
Aside from that, I haven't KNOWINGLY touched sugar. For those of you following a similar diet (no sugar, ok on carbs), a really good breakfast is a bowl of plain oatmeal with a tablespoon of organic sugar free crunchy peanut butter. :nod: |

Wow! 40gms a day are you only eating meat? The Odwalla bar I brought to work has 43 gms in it alone. I bonk without some carbs but maybe for some people the brain doesn't need as much?
EDIT: RG sorry to hear you were sabatoged but glad it has worked so well for you. Now try giving up wheat you'll feel even better. |

| Again, the only sugar I intake is through fruit. The 300mg of salt thingy a day is going surprisingly well. Still losing :nod: And no exercising allowed, boy I hope that appointment is soon :nod: |

Hey has anyone here tried hemp hearts? If you haven't, I highly recommend them especially for carb limited diets. Full blown out amounts of amino acids, Omega 3, 6 and 9 and TONS of protein to keep you full. You can order them online or go to your healthfood store. If you like macademia nuts, you will like these. They melt on your tongue and have a very mild nutty flavor. I've just started them and sprinkle a few TBSPs on my yogurt every morning. Yummy Yummy!!!! :2thumbs:

yup. I've lost close to 10 pounds. My tummy is flatter and tighter.
So far I haven't touched sugar for almost a month (with the exception of that one time that I was tricked into eating it).
I'm living off a diet of whole oats, lean meats and veggies, and splenda. :haha:

Still going strong. I'm coming up on half way now. It's really not so tough anymore. I have momentum on my side now. The other day I was eating trail mix, and an M&M accidently snuck into the handfull I popped in my mouth. I can't believe that I actually spit it out! :lol8:
In spite of the momentum, I will be glad to see day 100. I really miss hot chocolate chip fudge brownies with a double scoop of vanilla ice cream melting over the top. I think that is what I will eat for dessert on day 100.
The health benefits of this are quite noticeable. You drop weight very easily if you can go off sugar for an extended time, especially if you mix in exercise at least 3 times a week. I highly recommend a sugar free lifestyle, and will probably continue this for the long term, only not quite as strict as I am now. :2thumbs: |

Great news once you lose the taste for sugar you're home free.
I tell dozens of people to try this nutritional advice (hate to use the word diet) and they look dazed it's nice to hear about someone doing it, realizing results and liking it. |
