| A few of us were down in the Escalante area during the second week of April 2008 helping out with a Salt Lake City high school AP Enviro science field trip. While the class was off doing Peekaboo and Spooky we decided to check out the upper drainages in the Early Weed bench area north of spooky. We hiked to the head of a western trib off the upper spooky drainage that T. Jones calls Spanky on his canyoneeringusa web site. Turned out to be a nice half day jaunt into a short but sweet canyon. The canyon was dry. Spanky pops out at the confluence of the upper drainage of Spooky. We had some time to kill so we checked out the upper narows of Spooky. Nice and tight and reminds me of upper brimstone. |
