Smith Water Canyon, Joshua Tree National Park, CA

Smith Water Canyon is a lush, green, narrow canyon and in the springtime has running water. It is my favorite hike for this time of the year. The hike is a one-way 8.5 mile trek through a water course of tall vegetation, smooth boulders, cottonwoods, sand and lots of flowers. The canyon opens up and washes out on to the desert and you can stop by Samuelson's Rocks on your way out to Trash Can Rock/Quail Springs Picnic area.

There was 5 of us. After setting up the car shuttle, we started hiking at 1pm and got to the other car at 5:30pm. We took lots of pictures. (Most pictures have people in them....)

Still made our 7pm reservation at Pappy & Harriett's! :-) :haha:

Enjoy

Nice photos Felicia. Looks like a great hike.
Joshua Tree is one of my favorite places. My first camping trip in 1958 as a 5 year old was in JT. Used to play music at Pappy & Harriets once upon a time as well. Thanks.

I think I only found five of them this time.....everyone wanted to keep going. :ne_nau:

I'm terrible for getting side tracked with looking at stuff when we hike. :lol8:

(Remember: Back away from the pretty purple flowers...)
